Pre-Birth acupuncture can enable the body to initiate labor in a timely manner and encourage a shorter, more pleasant birth.
As the day of birth approaches, many expecting mothers wonder what they can do to prepare their bodies for labor. Aside from proper nutrition and exercise, there are holistic and nurturing ways to enable the body to initiate labor in a timely manner and help encourage a shorter, more pleasant birth.
Pre-birth acupuncture consists of a series of four treatments from 36 weeks of pregnancy until birth.
The goals of these treatments are:
- to help prevent from going overdue by ensuring proper position for birth
- ripening the cervix
- shortening labor time
- promote energy and stamina for the birthing mother
The acupuncture points used depend upon a woman's constitution and pregnancy history. This treatment plan is especially recommended for mothers who have had a previous post-date baby, who want to avoid chemical induction or who are planning a Vaginal Birth After Cesarean. Women who follow this gentle protocol, rarely need medical or natural labor induction methods, as we are encouraging the body’s natural hormones to release gradually.
